CHI YAN CHAN
Chi Yan is a Director at COLLECTIVE. With over 20 years of professional experience, she brings a wealth of international and local expertise from her work at prominent architecture firms across the United States and China.
Chi Yan holds a Master of Architecture from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University. She is also an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Before joining COLLECTIVE in 2019, Chi Yan spent a decade at Herzog & de Meuron. Beginning as an Architectural Designer, she ultimately led the team as the on-site Senior Project Manager for the design and construction of the Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts in Hong Kong from 2009 to 2018. During this period, she also served as a Resident Site Architect for the construction of Hong Kong's M+ Museum between 2017 and 2018. Earlier in her career, she honed her skills at notable practices including Neri & Hu in Shanghai, Zephyr Architects in Beijing, and Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, BRB, and Agrest & Gandelsonas Architects in New York City.
In addition to her architectural practice, Chi Yan is engaged in academia. She is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where she co-teaches the Master of Architecture Design Studio alongside COLLECTIVE Directors Betty Ng and Juan Minguez. She previously served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at CUHK, teaching the Bachelor's Degree Design Studio.
