Juan Minguez

JUAN MINGUEZ

Juan is a Director at COLLECTIVE, dividing his practice between Hong Kong and Madrid. With over 25 years of experience spanning the European Union, the United States, and Asia, his diverse expertise encompasses architecture, master planning, and interior design.

A native of Spain, Juan holds dual Master of Architecture degrees from Harvard University and Madrid’s ETSAM. He is a Registered Architect in Spain and the United Kingdom (ARB), a Chartered Architect of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and an International Associate member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

Before joining COLLECTIVE, Juan began his career in Madrid with Frechilla & López-Peláez Arquitectos, contributing to major projects such as the Campus of Justice. After pursuing his second master's degree in the US, he relocated to Hong Kong in 2009 to join OMA. There, he served as Project Architect and Project Manager for the new Chu Hai College campus, guiding the project through its design development phase. His extensive portfolio at OMA also includes the Green Square Aquatic Center and Gunyama Park in Sydney, the Hanwha Galleria in Busan, and the K11 development at Prince Bay, Shenzhen. He subsequently joined New York-based SO-IL as a Senior Associate, where he oversaw the construction of the 8,000-square-meter K11 Art and Cultural Center in Hong Kong.

In addition to his practice, Juan is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where he co-teaches the Master of Architecture Design Studio alongside COLLECTIVE Directors Betty Ng and Chi Yan Chan.
